If you are a business, celebrity, musical artist or have a brand that you want to promote, a Facebook fan page can be the perfect place to generate interest in you or your product.
A fan page can grow as big as possible and allows you to send messages to an unlimited group of people. So, here’s our guide to setting up a fan page on Facebook.
The basics of setting up a fan page
Firstly, head to Facebook and the ‘create a page’ section. You will see six categories in which you can set up your page including local business, brand or product and ‘entertainment’. Choose the one most relevant to you.
Once you have created your page, you should make sure that you complete the information page fully. Upload a photo or logo (it sometimes helps to have your website address on this picture; whilst it won’t be clickable people can still see where to go for more information).
Use the ‘info’ link on the left hand side of the page to edit information about you, your product or your company. For example, in your company overview, you can list links to pages on your website, your newsletter signup form, other social media, or whatever you want.
Make sure you post to your fan page regularly
When setting up a fan page on Facebook, it is important that you post regular content to the page. As with other social media, content and interaction with fans is crucial.
Posting something at least every day means that you will show up in the news feed of all your fans. You can post links, a blog or anything else that your fans would be interested in.
Whenever someone becomes a ‘fan’, comments on your post, shares your post or clicks the ‘like’ button it will show up in their news feed for all their friends to see. So, you can potentially reach thousands of new people every day.
Sending updates to your fans can also help you update people about new sales, events or products. Try not to overuse this – people don’t like being bombarded with messages – but used carefully this can really help you connect with your fans.
Promote your Facebook fan page
Once you have set up your Facebook fan page, it is important that you link to it from everywhere. Let people know that you are on Facebook in order that they follow your page. Put a link on other social media sites or include a link or Facebook logo in your newsletter of blog.
And, don’t be afraid to ask people to come to your pages. Send an e-mail to clients, customers or fans asking them to join your pages on Facebook.
